Terms & Conditions
HALL DRIVING SCHOOL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you wish to cancel or rearrange a lesson then at least 72 hours notice is required (3 clear working days - Sundays or public holidays are not counted as a working day). In the event of a ‘no show’ (when the pupil has forgotten the lesson), changing or cancellation of the lesson for any reason with less than 72 hours notice, the cost of the whole lesson will still be payable, even if you are ill or have been called to work! This policy is the same as the one the DVSA has when booking theory & driving tests.
www.gov.uk/cancel-driving-test )
If you are unfortunate enough to have your driving test cancelled by the DVSA, with short notice (less than 3 clear working days), DVSA will re-arrange your test for another date. We will still need paying though, however you can claim this back from DVSA by filing in an “out-of-pocket expenses” form (click HERE for a direct link).
Payment for lessons should be received no later than 72 hours (3 full days) before the START of each lesson, otherwise your pre-arranged driving lesson may be given to someone else.
For anyone preferring to pay by cash, payment should be made on the previous lesson ready for the next one.
All prepaid lessons are non-refundable and prices will be honoured for a period of 6 months only. Any unused lessons after 6 months have elapsed will become void and non-refundable. Refunds may be made in exceptional circumstances but will be subject to a £25 admin fee and will be issued within four weeks of request.
You must agree to have REGULAR LESSONS of at least one a week (except for holidays), otherwise we may be unable to continue lessons with you. If you decide to take take a lesson break of more than two weeks, you may be removed from our books to make way for a new pupil.
Please ensure that we are aware of your current mobile and landline numbers, and informed promptly of any changes so that we are able contact each other when necessary. It would also be appreciated if mobile phones are turned off or left at home for your lesson to avoid any potentially dangerous distractions.
Each lesson will begin at the pre-booked time, even if the pupil has not entered the car yet. Where the instructor may arrive slightly late for a lesson due to circumstances beyond their control, the instructor will make efforts to extend the ‘finish’ time of the lesson by the same amount of time or add the time onto the following lesson.
The pupil may be permitted to use the training car for their driving test only when the driving instructor is satisfied that the pupil is at the required standard. The cost of the use of the training car for the driving test period is payable to Hall Driving School.
Your Instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if they feel that the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous. Your Instructor cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of them having to postpone any lesson for whatever reason.
The instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it is suspected that the pupil is unfit to drive due to the effects of alcohol, drugs, excessive tiredness or any other condition that would cause dangerous driving. In such circumstances, the lesson fee would still be payable.
Neither the Instructor nor the pupil will smoke in the vehicle during or any time after lessons.
During lessons, we will make every effort to avoid damage to the car. However, if we consider that you were driving in a dangerous or unpredictable way during a lesson and despite our best efforts to help, actual damage is caused, YOU will be expected to pay for all repairs to any damaged vehicles (including ours) up to the level of excess on our driving School insurance policy. This will be discussed at the time of the damage. In addition, during a driving test, the examiner will not prevent you, the candidate, from hitting the kerb or causing other similar minor damage to the car. Therefore, all damage caused by you whilst on test will be charged to you (up to the level of excess on the instructor’s insurance policy).
